5Maier Roof
By sgooseman
I bought this for my 2011 Polaris Ranger XP800. I looked over the many different roofs that are available and there are several and I settled on this one and I'm glad I did. First, I like that it has a front and rear overhang to help keep rain off of the seats when parked. Secondly, it only has two pieces to put together which i was able to do by myself. Third, it has a nice high gloss finish to it and doesn't appear that it will ever fade to a dull weather beaten look. I was a little concerned about it working with the windshield I purchased but it worked fine. This top has a small amount (but not a lot) of extra length to it that allows you to slide it forward or back a little before tightening it down.

4Actually better than I expected.
By Donnie
When it arrived I was concerned about its condition since the packaging was absolutely destroyed, but since the roof itself is quite heavily made it was still in fine shape.

The first thing I noticed was that the material was thicker and stiffer than the Polaris OEM roof I had on my previous Ranger. The roof on the previous ride was a Lock and Ride. I do admit that I liked the Lock and Ride brackets much better than the bands that came with the Maier, but once mounted it really didn't matter.

When putting the two halves of the Maier roof together, I put black silicone down the seam like others have suggested to keep rain from leaking. But now comes the part I didn't like about the roof. The screws provided with the roof are fine for connecting the two halves together, but the screws are just too short for the mounting brackets around the roll bar. They were a major pain in the a$$ to get both ends of the mounting bracket to stay until you could get the nut started. I've been turning wrenches for many, many years and I struggled greatly to get those things to work. I won't say it can't be done, but it should be easier. Another 1/4" longer screws wouldn't hurt anything and make it much easier to install.

With all that being said, I went to Ace Hardware and purchased 8 hurricane shutter screws, 1" long. They may be difficult to find in all parts of the country, but I live in Florida where they are readily available. The larger stainless steel head on hurricane shutter screws make a nice looking finishing touch to this top. The installation was easy after this. I did drill two extra holes, one at the front and one at the very rear center of the top for more screws to close a couple of gaps. I also added a spacer between the top and bracket on the front-center. Reason being, there was about a 1/2" gap that when tightend down would distort the shape of the top. Again, not really a big deal, but I am a little AR.

Although I think there could be improvements to the hardware, I am overall very pleased with this top for almost half the price of OEM. If you order one, just have a little extra hardware available for the installation and it will go on with ease.
